How to fix Ford VCM2 'Connect' not work before using IDS?

Question: I managed to install the IDS software v116 that came with the clone Ford VCM2 VCI that I bought recently. All good but I have not connected to a car yet.

When I double-click on VCI manager, and click 'connect' it works and you can hear a beep noise. I would like to know do I have to click on 'Connect' every time in VCI manager before using IDS? But when I test to see if it's communicating with the software IDS, it does not seem to work.  I installed VCI software 1.0.and VCI manager. what is the difference?

Answer:

if vcm is connected to vci manager it will not connect to ids

you should start computer

wait a few 3-5 mins so that windows has completed all its start up checks etc

start ids

you should then see a red icon in bottom right corner that shows vcm is connected

if it is not

connect to a car (any car) so that vcm has power from car

then do select all other and next it should bring up a screen of available interfaces

if your vcm not show it is a bad install or a bad vcm

I have a VXdiag All scanner and software and a license for BMW and BENZ. Every time I start my computer I have to check the connection of the VCI scanner to the VCI manager and check the connection and only then start the software for the vehicle (Benz or BMW) BMW connects in a short time, and when I start the Benz software I have to wait up to 5 minutes.

Question: what version of VCI manager or VCI software that will work 100% with my Ford VCM 2 VCI interface?

Answer: Try version 2.3.x.x, if this connect, then your clone is not able to use version 2.4.x.x. happen to me, put VCM in recovery mode then downgrade it. after you done it should show connect.

Just download vci manager v2.3.85.7

Or do recovery

I suggest you to install v2.3.85.7 to not damage your vcm2

Renault-com vs. Can Clip for Renault Laguna diagnosis

Car model: Renault Laguna

Symptom: has thrown the check injection light on again and I suspect oil dilution (2.0DCi 180hp).

Renault diagnostic tool to use:

Test reports:
I did get one Renault-COM.
It does work and can read and more importantly clear the Renault codes.

It hasn’t got the ability to tell the car to regenerate the DPF like the Can Clip is meant to have, or not that I’ve found anyway.

It’s allowed me to clear codes on my Laguna and our Megane so has paid for itself already.
It doesn’t use the Clip software unfortunately it uses Superscan 3.

Renault-COM

There is an option for coding injectors I believe... to be honest that’s not my sort of thing so have never looked into it.

As for the DPF, it CAN read the code/s and tell you if you have oil dilution and also the cruise control gets taken off with that too, resetting and clearing the codes is easy.

If you go into the options for live data it does tell you how much soot is in the filter.

My Laguna still regenerates regularly, the soot level remains high even after the car has regenerated the DPF, I think it’s now full of ash.

Where's the best place to get one Renault-COM diagnostic from?
I got mine from obd2shop:

The first time I plugged it into the car it took my laptop a few goes to connect to it, that could just be my laptop though and have had no issues since.

The blue light for Bluetooth on the unit only actually goes blue once the laptop actually makes a connection with it.

Good luck!

How to solve 05 Ford F150 4.6L "check gauges not warning lights and no limp mode"?

Car model:
2005 F150 XLT
4.6L, 4wd
209k miles

Symptom:
Truck starts and drives. At idle no issues, temp comes up and at the center temp mark the stat opens, recently installed a new stat and radiator. Highway speed the temp gauge spikes to max and I get a message to check gauges not warning lights and no limp mode. Pullover and idle temp goes down, and stays down unless I get up to higher speeds again. Nothing out of the ordinary with reservoir level, no mixing with oil.

Advice on how to do:
A device plugged into the OBDII which will display the temperature for engine coolant, engine head, transmission fluid, etc. A lot of people are downloading software online and buying an adapter. Some people buy very expensive tools like shops and dealerships use.

You need to be able to read the truck's computer. You want to see what the temperature is for your coolant, and compare that with a point and shoot thermometer.
When the needle on the dashboard is high, pull over and start checking the temperature. Check the temperature at the cylinder head, thermostat, and the hoses. See if the fan is turning on. Look at the water pump.

Ford VCMII clone

Vident ilink400

Reason:
It could be the water pump.
It could be just a bad sensor.
https://youtu.be/g7_na0F1wwM

With this generation of trucks, the cooling system was not that complicated.

The thermostat opens to allow hot coolant out of the engine. If this does not work, the truck overheats.

The hot coolant travels through the upper radiator hose to the radiator. Airflow cools the fluid. At highway speeds, airflow is simply from your truck traveling so fast that air is flowing in through the grill. At lower speeds, the cooling is assisted by the fan. The cool fluid goes back to the engine through the lower radiator hose. The water pump keeps this cycle going.

Since we know that at low speed, the truck is not overheating, we can believe that the thermostat is opening, the fan is working, and the water pump is doing its job. Now to figure out if the truck is actually overheating at highway speed. The needle on the dash is rising because the car's computer is reading a high-temperature signal. So check to see what temperature the computer is reading. Now check to see what the actual temperatures are. Your truck may not be overheating at all. If the water pump, fan clutch, or thermostat failed, you would overheat at low speed. While you are working on your cooling system, it doesn't hurt to replace the belts & hoses, and pressure tests the system. While you are at it, I would exchange the radiator fluid. Flush out the system and start with a new coolant.

How to install ids 116 for vcx nano to do module programming?

vcx nano works well with IDS 116, you can also do online programming with etis ford it is important to power the car 14v during programming (if your maintainer only pushes 13.6 volts, it can be ok only it must be stable without hesitation).
see youtube.
