For a locked Hyundai or KIA MD1 CS012, this job is done in Boot mode with EngineDance X5. Open the ECU, remove the specified resistor, connect to the E1 point, and run the MD1 glitch unlock.
ECU Preparation
Open the ECU and prepare the PCB first.
1. Remove the specified resistor.
2. Locate the E1 point and confirm it before making the connection.
Boot Connection
Connect the EngineDance X5 to the MD1/MG1 Boot-Glitch Adapter, connect the adapter pin to E1, and use the jumper box to link the ECU connector interface with the X5.
Unlock the ECU
Let the X5 establish communication with the ECU. This normally takes about 5 minutes.
1. Go to ECU FLASH >> BOSCH Bench Mode[ECU] >> BOSCH-MD1xxx-[After 2020-Locked] >> BOOT GLITCH-MD1CS012[After 2020.06-Locked].
2. When the pre-unlock menu appears, select “BOOT Glitch - MD1xxx(LOCKED) SAK-TC29xTP-Glitch-Unlock”.
3. Wait for the software to report Success. The ECU is unlocked.
Power Cycle and Read/Write
Once the ECU file is written successfully, cycle the power.
1. Turn off the ignition or disconnect ECU power.
2. Wait 10 seconds, then turn it back on.
You can read and back up the original Flash and EEPROM data directly in Boot mode. If you only need to read or write the ECU, unlocking is not required first.
After the ECU is returned to its original status, read/write operations can also be performed in Bench mode.
